Meet the Teacher:Hi! My name is Mrs. Kelly Johnson and I am SO excited to once again be part of the dynamic Westlake Charter School teaching team! More importantly, I am THRILLED to be your child's teacher!!
I was raised in southern California. I moved up north for college, where I received my BA in Liberal Studies and my Teaching Credential from Chico State University. While in northern CA, I met my amazing husband, Kyle. We married and relocated back down to So Cal, where I accepted my first teaching position. I spent the next 6 years, teaching 1st and 2nd grade at the elementary school I attended as a child. During that time, I went back to school and earned my Master of Education in Educational Technology from Azusa Pacific University. In 2001, we felt called to move up to a growing community in northern Sacramento, Natomas. That summer we welcomed our first daughter into our family. I spent the next 10 years growing our family. We have two amazing daughters, Makenzie (12) and Bailey (10) and one delightful son, Carter (5). Though my own children were (and are) my biggest priority during those years, my passion and love for teaching always continued. In 2005, I heard about a new charter school starting to form. From my very first parent meeting I was hooked. I knew I wanted to be a part of Westlake Charter School. Over the past 8 years, I have been involved at Westlake as a founding parent, a committed substitute, a part-time kindergarten teacher, a kindergarten BTSA mentor teacher and this year, for the first time I will be entering a Westlake Charter classroom as a full time teacher. I have taught kindergarten for the past 4 years and absolutely LOVE it. There is just no other grade quite like it! The social and academic grow that happens in kindergarten is amazing. I am honored to be partnering with you, the parents and families, as together we make this an amazing school year. Your partner in education, Mrs. Johnson |
