This week we ventured into the great outdoors with our new animal unit that has a camping twist. Our classroom is slowly transforming into KAMP KINDERGARTEN and the class is more excited than ever to learn. Here's a closer look at our week .... READING: Sight Word: of, it & review all kinder sight words Making predictions & inferencing. Identifying character, setting and events in a story. Reading with accuracy and fluency. PHONICS & WRITING: Identifying beginning, middle & end sounds. Blends: 'sh,' 'ch,' 'th,' and 'wh' Writing: 3 detail sentences that support the topic sentence. MATH: 3 Dimensional Shapes: cone, cube, sphere, cylinder Fluently Adding & Subtracting to 5. Name & recall the value of penny, nickel, dime and quarter. Correct number formation. THEMATIC INSTRUCTION: At KAMP KINDERGARTEN this week well took a closer look at butterflies. We learned all about their life cycle, what their body parts are named, and many more interesting facts about these beautiful insects. We took our new knowledge of butterflies and used it to practice some scientific writing. THINGS TO ASK YOUR YOUNG SCHOLAR: What is the life cycle of a butterfly? Can you go on a shape hunt around our house and show us a cone, cube, sphere, cylinder? Have you rode your bike today? (don't forget to log all their trips to win fun prizes during Bike Month. 1trip=10 minutes.)
