PHONICS & WRITING:
Word Families: '__ox' and '__ix' Help your child come up with rhyming words for these word families. (ox, fox, box, fix, mix)
Writing: We continued writing 3 related sentences on 1 topic as we learned and wrote about Abe Lincoln.
MATH:
Subtraction to 10 using manipulatives.
Name & recall the value of penny, nickel, dime and quarter.
Correct number formation.
THEMATIC INSTRUCTION:
This week we focused our attention on learning about Abraham Lincoln our 16th president. We read books about Lincoln and took the facts we learned to make a class chart. Each table group came up with a group fact to write and add to our chart. Did you know that Lincoln is on the penny? Ask your young scholar to tell you more fun Lincoln facts!
THINGS TO ASK YOUR YOUNG SCHOLAR:
Can you sing me the 'up' song and spell the word you? How about song for 'down?'
Can you tell me 3 facts about Abraham Lincoln?
Can you tell me what happened first, next and last in your day?
LOOKING AHEAD:
FEB 4: 100TH DAY OF SCHOOL. Your child should wear their 100th Day T-Shirt to school and bring his/her writing paper to turn in.
FEB 6: PARENTS GO TO SCHOOL NIGHT. Parents are invited for a night of parent workshops, information and fun! Angelique Ashby will be presenting as the keynote speaker. Workshops include Apps for Education, Writing in Primary Grades, Common Core, Math Games and more!
FEB 13: Friendship card holder due. Directions and bag will be sent home with your child on Wed 2/5.
FEB 14: VALENTINES DAY. Our class will be celebrating with 6 fun friendship related workshops. If your child wishes to bring friendship cards for their classmates, please include enough for all 22 students.
